Crafted 'Cultural Armor' & quests were first introduced with the Dragons of Norrath expansion (2005), with armor for Recommended Level 15 (Simple), 35 (Ornate), 55 (Intricate) & 65 (Elaborate).

However, there was a form of Cultural Armor, that now, is often referred to as 'Old Cultural,' while the new cultural is sometimes referred to as 'DoN Cultural.'

• The 'Old Cultural' Armor included more than just visible armor; were often wearable by more than one (1) race.
• 'Old Cultural' was often limited to the followers of certain Deities.
• Some races did not have any 'cultural' armor at all (such as Half Elves) with 'Old Cutrual' armor.
• There were also 'Old Cultural' Robes that applied only to Caster Classes.
• With the new 'DoN Cultural' Armor, each race, including those who previously did not have cultural armor (like Half Elves), now had recipes and tasks related to such armor.
• In an inconsistent manner, new 'DoN Cultural' armor was added and related to in-game max character levels, alogn with new cultural book quests.
• The Depths of Darkhollow expansion (2005) added Seal recipes, followed by a patch that also added Charms recipes.
• In 2007, the recipes were altered and the item names were changed.
• On top of that, the quests were revamped.
• In March 2014, the recipes were completely revamped.
• After that, cultural crafted armor was abandoned... with the last expansion to have them being The Darkened Sea) (2014).

The individual quests for the symbol and seals books are linked below (to avoid clutter and confusion).

• The first book (outlined below), is the only book you need in order to make any type / level of cultural armor, as the only variant is the items used to make the armor.
• The rest of the books are needed to make the augmentations (aka 'Symbols') and charms.
• While I generally outline the Half Elf quest below, the quests are all very similar, if not the same, for each culture.
• There is a similar / related Quest NPC in most home cities.
• The Book tasks / quests are actually a series of tasks/quests (they will appear in your task window). 
• The quests were meant to be taken in order, but it appears they can be now done in any order and / or even simultaneously.
• If for some reason you can’t get one of the quests, it may be either because you need the first book (racial armor book) or you are not of a sufficient level.
• These quests can play into getting your tradeskills to high levels, but it is an expensive and/or time consuming than as compared to other alternatives.

ANCESTRAL HALF ELVEN ARMOR (1st Cultural Book)

1) WESTERN PLAINS OF KARANA: Time to hunt and fish for the items you need.

The majority of MOB's in this zone are Level 1 to Level 30.

You need to loot or fish up the following:

Lion Tail (No Drop, Weight 0.2); After zoning in from Qeynos Hills, follow the river until you see what looks like plowed fields (known as the Miller Farm). Lions often traverse these fields.

• Fire Beetle Carapace (Weight 0.2); Fire Beetles can be found in the same area as the Lions (this is the hardest one to get, as the beetles seem in short supply).
• Golden Bandit Tooth (Weight 0.2); Keep running down the river and you should soon come upon a Bandit camp.
• Zombie Skin (Weight 0.1); Even further down the river and you will find the undead just past the Pyramid.

NOTE: This element sof this task can, and will, vary by your Characters Race. You may want to get the Task forst and then pursue acquiring needed items (see below).

2) NORTH QEYNOS: You need to find Artisan Vor Westrider (Level 70).

NOTE: If you are not a Half Elf, look for the 'Artisan' NPC in your home city (on Find).

He is located just inside the city gates at the first section of buildings (on the wall, as you walk into this area).

NOTE: This task can also be obtained from Nala Goldenthorn (Level 70) in Greater Faydark (Kelethin).

NOTE: It appears you can do this quest at any level.

Hail him and follow along and then give him the Lion Tail, Fire Beetle Carapace, Zombie Skin and the Golden Bandit Tooth.

He will give you the book called Ancestral Half Elven Armor (No Drop, Weight 0.5).

NOTE: This is the only book you will need to make the various Half Elf Cultural Armors. This is the book that allows you to make both the Tailoring Patterns and the Smithing Molds for Half Elf armor. The remaining books are for Augmentations and Charms.

NOTE: This book will "wear out" (disappear) after about seven (7) to ten (10) uses.

To get another one, simply do this task again.
