This key is required in order to work the lever that opens the door into Aerin'Dar's Lair in the Plane of Valor.
You, or someone with you, will need this key in order gain access to the lair of Aerin'Dar (the Dragon), a necessary kill for the proper Hall of Honor Flag!
This key quest, while considered part of progression, is not actually needed or required (as someone else can open the door for you) for proper progression.
Download and unzip this file to the 'storyline' folder of your EverQuest directory to have access to a generic, simplified version of Planar Progression Guides, in game, via your Story Window (Alt N)! NOTE: This file can be updated in the event of typo corrections, errors and new events, so you may need a fresh download / install every so often.

A CRYSTALLINE GLOBE: Lore, Magic, No Drop, Weight 0.0, All Races and All Classes.
.
!!!BIG NOTE!!!
This quest has been buggy for quite a long time. The below guide is VERY specific! Follow this guide hardcore and ignore any in-game NPC responses. This process is the one that finally worked for me.
...
THE QUEST
1) PLANE OF VALOR: This entire quest takes place in Plane of Valor.
First you need to obtain three items, by killing MOB's here in Plane of Valor.
What you need are A Crystalline Spider's Heart (Lore, No Drop, Weight 1.0), A Planarian Larvae's Heart (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1) and A Razorfiend's Heart (Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).
They are all pretty common drops (you will likely get them in less than 10 kills each). They drop off the various MOB's, for which they are named (all Level 59 to Level 62).
A Planarian Larvae (Level 59 to 60) can be found near the zone in, towards river to the east.
A Razorfiend Subduer (level 62 to 63) can be found at the river to the west of the zone in.
A Crystalline Arachnae (Level 61) can be found on the other side of the castle area.
NOTE: It appears you may be able to simply accomplish step two and four, only. I am not sure, as it does not appear (on paper) that the hearts are necessary, unless there is hidden flagging involved.
.
2) Now you need to find three (3) other MOB's for three (3) more items.
Find A Luminii Crawler (Level 63), on the other side of the fort/castle. You need to loot A Piece of the Crystalline Globe (identifies as a Crystalline Orb; Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1). I got mine off the first one I killed.
You also need to find An Undead Vassal (Level 59 to Level 61). They pop out of the ground (at hidden trigger spots) and attack you in the wooded area, just out from the graveyard. You need to loot A Piece of the Crystalline Globe (identifies as A Crystalline Gem; Lore, No Drop, Weight 0.1).
Lastly, you need to find A Gamite Frog (along the river, Level 59 to Level 60). They spawn by the river to the east of the zone-in. You need to loot A Piece of the Crystalline Globe (identifies as A Crystalline Staff; Lore, No Drop, Weight 1.0).
.
3) Now for the redundant stuff.
First up, you need to find Sergeant Johson Popoah (Level 67).
He is located in area of /waypoint -973 -538, in the tents.
WARNING: DO NOT FOLLOW ALONG WITH HIS TEXT! Simply hail him and then hail him again (yes, two hails). Do NOT click the keywords or say them back to him!
If you failed to heed the above warning, camp out, log back in and try again. It has been reported that Step 7 will fail, if you mess this up.
You should get a response something like, "Leave before there is bloodshed."
.
4) Now, immediately turn to Paralin Notion (Level 66).
He is right there in the same tent as the Sergeant.
Hail him and follow along.
The phrases to use, in order, are:
-- I am brave.
-- I will help your company.
-- What squad?
-- What about that razorfiend?
-- I will provide you with assistance.
-- What trials?
-- What things?
.
5) Now run directly to Master Sergeant Aaramis Darylin (Level 66).
Do not stop to speak to any other NPC's!
He is located in the back section of the castle (aka bridge house).
Once you find him -- DO NOT HAIL HIM!
Simply say to him the following, in this order:
-- I am here to aid the cause.
-- What is Aerin'Dar?
.
6) Now run back to Paralin Notion.
Hail him and say the following:
-- How shall I prove myself?
.
7) Now give Paralin Notion A Crystalline Spider's Heart, A Planarian Larvae's Heart, and a A Razorfiend's Heart (from Step 1).
.
8) Head back to Master Sergeant Aaramis Darylin.
This time you do need to hail him first.
Then say to him the following, in order:
-- What glass lair?
-- What about Aerin'Dar?
-- What company?
-- What mission?
.
9) Now find Captain Ryglot Cupperhide (Level 67).
He is also in the tents.
Hail him and say the following, in order:
-- Why are you busy?
-- I will help.
-- What mission?
-- What war?
.
10) Now give him the three (3) pieces of the A Piece of the Crystalline Globe (from Step 2).
If he hands stuff back to you, try handing them in this order (based on the MOB they came from): A Luminii Crawler; A Gamite Frog; and then the piece from An Undead Vassal.
He will give you A Crystalline Globe!
Once you use it, it will disappear and you will get the Achievement: Crystalline Globe.
